Simple Guitar Wiring for Volume Pedal Users

This time, I will show you some simple guitar wiring. It doesn't have any volume and tone control. It will be great, if you prefer to use only pedals for this things. The only control in this guitar circuit is a load pot. It can be used for adding a little bit of warmth/smoothness to the guitar tone, or as a stand-by switch.

Adjustable Treble Bleed Mod

Today's post is about how to make an easily adjustable guitar treble bleed mod. It's based on some kind of a small extension of the well known wiring trick. It can give you good control over the guitar volume and treble relation.

Impedance Tuner - Guitar Mod

Impedance tuner? It is a guitar mod, which can help you tune the treble bleed of a guitar wiring, by adjusting the impedance of the circuit. Its a quite simple thing, based on a 1M potentiometer.

Sonny Sharrock - The Guitar Tone Legend

Do you know Sonny Sharrock? He was a magnificent jazz/blues guitarist.

He used to have awesome ideas on guitar riffs. After listening a few Sonny's records, I still have this sounds in my head. He was paying with  great timing and rhythm. Sonny's guitar tone was fat and rich, more typical for blues-rock players than jazzmen. The Gibson Les Paul was his main instrument, what is easy to hear in his records.

Sonny is well known also from his groovy soundtrack for Space Ghost Coast to Coast cartoon

Let's listen to some Sharrock's music:

Volume Drop Switch - Guitar Mod

The volume drop switch is a guitar wiring mod , which can help you to reduce the output power of your axe, without significant treble loses. You can use it to make your tone cleaner, with less crunch from a tube amp, or just to decrease the volume, without treble bleed effect.

American Standard vs. Deluxe Stratocaster (pre-2004)

American Standard and Deluxe Stratocaster guitars are looking similar as wood constructions, but their wirings are the two different stories. Let's look closer at them.

Stereo/Studio Guitar Wiring

This project is about a double-output guitar wiring. I made it especially for studio use. It will allow you to play and record tracks with some special, useful functions.

It will work well as a mod for SG or Les Paul guitars. It needs some place for one pickup selector switch, three push-pull potentiometers and two jack sockets. Gibson/Epiphone guitars usually got it all (the extra jack socket can be in the place of the 4th pot).

Tone Control Mod

This post is about a simple guitar tone control modification, which can make your axe's wiring better for your preferences. It's based on a resistor and a capacitor. The values of these parts can be selected from a quite wide range. It means, that you will have a lot of options to choose from, when you will be making this mod.

Treble Bleed Switch (Volume Pot Mod)

In this post, I will show you how to make a switchable guitar treble bleed prevention circuit. It's based on a push-pull volume potentiometer, a capacitor and a resistor.

One Man Guitar Shows

When we are thinking about some music, where guitars are the significant part, we're usually thinking about bands. What about one man guitar shows? Is there some successful music perfomed only by a one guitarist?

Design Your Own Guitar Booster

This post is about construction of op-amp based guitar boosters and preamps. You will get here some information, about how they are made, and how you can design and make your own. It's not only about just clean boosters. It's also about mid boosters, treble boosters and bass boosters. Quite useful knowledge for beginning guitar pedal makers.

Here is the schematic of the basic op-amp based booster/preamp. It has got a bypass switch and a volume/boost control potentiometer. I also marked the places, where are frequency filters and the maximum gain control.

Hot Telecaster Project (with humbuckers)

In this post I would like to show you a Telecaster guitar wiring project, made especially for heavy rock and metal enthusiasts. It's based on two, single-coil sized humbuckers (like SD Hot Rails) in a Tele body.

Fender Esquire Wiring Mod

I would like to show you some wiring mod for the Fender Esquire guitar. It gives some different switch options than the classic construction. They can make the tone warmer or brighter in a more subtle way.

The mod is based on two resistors and a 500K volume pot. The rest of parts is common.
